I have applied formula to keep the plastic soft. I would make one recommendation. Make sure the batteries are checked often to ascertain if any corrison has commenced, since the chrome,plated housing appears vulnerable to the battery chemical-leakage. My little tool kit is one of a kind and works great. My mon used it many years ago at her Boeing Air Plant work site in Kansas. Immensely useful and bright little tool.
