I have one that I bought in 1982 while stationed in Germany. It takes 2 N batteries. It has the logo on the barrel. Probably made around 1980 or so.

Found mine at my local flea market. Used bulb,AAA battery,and spring from pen type flashlight to push battery backwards to make contact. Works Great

If this unit takes only 1 battery, whether an N cell or an AA or AAA, it would take bulb #112. These are sometimes available at Radio Shack.

I have the same lighter, just like the one in the picture above. Mine says penguin aurora 45 on the side. My dad got it while in the US Navy.

Mine has Type N batteries installed with a small piece of cardboard folded over the batteries to hold them in securely.

I have one like this only the penguin aurora 45 is on the barrel. can anyone tell me what battery it takes? I tried AA, AAA, neither fit is something missing on inside to make aaa fit? AA to big.

I have one of these in mint condition with the original box and batteries. It was my fathers. I am not sure where he bought it. He was in the US Army.
