You'll be glad to hear that I've found my spring and have got my torch working again after a fashion. I have had to use some sticky tape as I can't figure out how the switch was supposed to function. Anyway, at least it's working.

Still have one of these stamped "Made in Britain". BTW it takes two AA batteries - weren't these previously known as penlight batteries? - probably didn't have triple A batteries in the 50's. I have recently lost the small internal spring so I'm afraid mine doesn't work any more.
