There is a smaller version of this Daylo model that uses an obsolete battery configuration. That model will operate with 2 AA batteries. Sleeve the batteries with cardboard or some other material to make up for the extra diameter. The diameter of the battery compartment is almost but not quite sufficient to handle C batteries.
