Confirmed my previous recollection after finding a unit at a garage sale. Ash Flash put out a "Searchlight Lantern" using the identical case, handles, and switch/switchplate, but with a removable clear "screw-in" reflector-lens unit. The back removes using a quarter-turn latch in the center to expose the batteries, which are spaced around the edge. The switch is on or off, no flashing feature. It is not watertight or resistant.
I do remember mine having pretty good throw for a plastic flashlight of the day; the garage sale unit is sadly too worn, with cloudy lens and corroded reflector, so its not up to snuff. I wonder if an LED elemend could be made to work in it though...

I had a light that looked very much like this; the box, switch, and handles were identical. However it had a screw-in reflector and clear lens component and no flash capability. I could have sworn it was an Ash Flash but I've never found a picture or data for it. Lost years ago, sadly.
