Oh yeah, just because i'm curious, what kind of bulbs does this unit take. Because it's powered by 4 cells, I would think it would take F4T5 bulbs, but the bulbs in the picture look too large to be that...

I hope to get myself one of these while they are still somewhat plentiful in the second-hand market.

BTW, the LED version of this lantern has miserable performance, stick with the fluorescent one.

DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO BUY THIS IF THEIR DOING AWAY WITH THE TUBES...WHAT GOOD IS IT THEN?? BETTER TO BUY THE NEW "L.E.D." ENERGIZER LANTERNS..THEY GIVE OUT JUST AS MUCH LIGHT BUT THE BATTERY POWER IS FAR BETTER AN THE NEW "LEDS" NEVER BURN OUT OR NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Compact, portable, not bulky or awkward like other camping lanterns, long run time, room filling area light for power outages, uses common 4 "D" cell batteries. Night light is a nice added feature for bedside.

These fluorescent lanterns are being phased out of production because of "mercury" used in the lamps. This makes no sense because household compact fluorescent light bulbs are being pushed on the public while incandescent lamps (no mercury) are being outlawed.

Look for these lanterns to be on sale and purchase a few while still around. You won't regret it.
