This may sound odd, but I found there was too much "heft" to the light for boisterous boys who liked to club one another. Instead, they got cheap little LED lights, which were less effective as weapons and lasted much longer on a single set of batteries. I had alot of fun with it, using it to play with all my other toys when it was dark and using it to find my way around when i wanted a late night snack. (or early morning.) I would highly recommend picking one up if you have a kid. Just watch out: this thing eats alot of C (or D, can't remember) batteries.
