I picked one of these up for my kids in the maybe 6-7 years ago, but I ended up keeping it in the collection instead. This may sound odd, but I found there was too much "heft" to the light for boisterous boys who liked to club one another. Instead, they got cheap little LED lights, which were less effective as weapons and lasted much longer on a single set of batteries.

I bought this for my son in 1990 and we still use it. Looking for one for my great nephew.

I had this light when I was a kid, and I must say that I loved it. The fact that it could be used as a lamp was very cool. I had alot of fun with it, using it to play with all my other toys when it was dark and using it to find my way around when i wanted a late night snack. (or early morning.) I would highly recommend picking one up if you have a kid. Just watch out: this thing eats alot of C (or D, can't remember) batteries.
