Hi,BGreggJ the newer ones were made with the switch guards like the one you have.The older one like in the picture above did not come with switch guards.Thats the only difference between the old and new versions.

Mine is stamped with the MX-212/U model number, but it also has switch protecting sidebars.

make a good hunting clip on with lcds fast! A light that is brighter than most flashlights. or retro fit the old one with bright and lasting blub.
