I bought one of these on eBay, mint in the box with the original documentation. Feels and runs like a very high quality fluorescent lantern. I doubt these were made as early as 1970, though. Mine is from 1977/1978, and there is proof they were being made as late as 1981.

I put in new batterys, new bulb and it worked fine but the next ime I tried it, it did not light., Could it be the switch? Could I buy a new unit? please advis

I just rebuilt the switch in the one I have. It belonged to my grandparents. No, it is no longer available. I use mine when the electricity goes out. Still very handy.
