@ STUART..IF IM NOT MISTAKIN...THEY STILL SELL THE REPLACEMENT BATTERIES AT SEARS AN SEARS "HARDWARE" STORES...IF NO LUCK THERE....TRY RADIO SHACK..IF STILL NO LUCK..TRY A LIGHTIN PLACE ONLINE...I HAD ONE OF THESE LIGHTS TOO..IT WAS GOOD...BUT TOO HEAVY....I DITCHED IT AFTER THE BATTERY GAVE OUT..I HAVE A NEW 5 WATT LED SPOTLIGHT...THAT IS TEN TIMES BRIGHTER AN LIGHTER THAN THIS OLD LIGHT....GOOD LUCK....

I BOUGHT AN HAD ONE OF THESE..EXCEPT IT WAS A MID 1980'S MODEL...AN HAD A SEALED "G.E." HEADLIGHT HEADBEAM...IT WAS A VERY GOOD LIGHT...EXCEPTIONALLY BRIGHT...ONLY COMPLAINT WAS...IT WAS EXTREMELY HEAVY TO CARRY...BATTERY WEIGHED A TON...(FELT LIKE 10 POUNDS)...WHEN THE BATTERY GAVE OUT..I DITCHED THE LIGHT...CUZ OF THE WEIGHT FACTOR...BUT A GREAT SPOTLIGHT WHEN LIT...

I bought the correct replacement battery,
Cyclon D Cell Sealed Lead Acid 2V,
2.5 AH, P/N 0810-0004
from microbattery.com It cost what the light is worth.

I bought the Diehard new it's an old friend seems a shame to throw away a non-disposable item in such a disposable world we live in now.
